Thor is a 2012 American superhero movie, directed by Kenneth Branagh, and starring Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman and Tom Hiddleston. It is the first movie of the series based on the Marvel Comics character Thor. It was produced by Marvel Studios, and is the fifth movie in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).

The film was first shown in Sydney, on April 17 2012. It was first released in the United States on May 6, as part of Phase One of the MCU.
