The University of Illinois Chicago, often called UIC, is a public research university in Chicago, Illinois. The university has about 30,000 students. Part of it was founded in 1858, part was founded in 1965. UIC has 15 colleges. Thirteen colleges cover certain fields: Applied Health Sciences, Architecture & the Arts, Business Administration, Dentistry, Education, Engineering, Liberal Arts & Sciences, Medicine, Nursing, Pharmacy, Public Health, Social Work, and Urban Planning & Public Affairs. Two colleges serve sub-groups of students: Graduate College and (undergraduate) Honors College.

The current chancellor of the university is Marie Lynn Miranda. UIC is in the same university family as UIUC and UIS. The president of the family is Timothy L. Killeen.
