Dorrel Norman Elvert "Whitey" Herzog (November 9, 1931 – April 15, 2024) was an American baseball player and manager. He was born in New Athens, Illinois. He played as an outfielder and left-handed batter. He played for the Washington Senators (1956–58), Kansas City Athletics (1958–60), Baltimore Orioles (1961–62) and Detroit Tigers (1963). He later managed Texas Rangers (1973), California Angels (1974), Kansas City Athletics (1975–79) and St. Louis Cardinals (1980–90). He won the 1982 World Series during his time with the Cardinals. In 2010, Herzog was added to the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum.[1]
Herzog died in St. Louis, Missouri on April 15, 2024, at the age of 92.[2][3]
